okies below will be my comment on this movie, don't ask me how come i got to watch this movie so early, (release dates on 3 August as stated) as i won't tell you. if u're interested in it, look forward to the movie.

Lucas Black plays Sean, a high school senior who's worn out his welcome everywhere he and his poor little mother have lived. Mom finally decides to send Sean to Tokyo to stay with his military father - but the change of scene and Dad's threats aren't nearly enough to shake Sean's extreme fascination with racing (or is it aspiration). In fact, discovering the local term - "drift", where cars spend much of the competition speeding sideways - only adds to his ardor. Sean gets off to a bad start by antagonizing the local racing leader, D.K., (which simply means Drift King), but finds a sponsor in D.K.'s partner in crime Han (looks more like an uncle to me than an expert in car drifting), who is willing to spend a few bucks (more than a few, in fact) to take D.K. down a few pegs. D.K. has a seriously bad temper - and a seriously bad-ass uncle, Kamata, who is a ranking member of the local yakuza (gang or tribe).

The writers make all of this work by keeping us pretty squarely with Sean, watching his evolution from fiery hothead to something like a sensible human being, while continually finding reasons within the premise for some racing action, including a major street chase through the streets of Tokyo that's pretty impressive.

With great car action, handsome cinematography and creditable acting and character writing, THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT may not achieve immortality, but it qualifies as highly proficient entertainment that moves swiftly and doesn't insult its audience. Not forgetting all the cute girls that appeared in the movie... omg did i see yuko ogura?? =x well, at least thats all the great stuff i can say about this movie.

- Mazda VeilSide RX-7 (Han's Ride) was a special show car built by VeilSide and crowned "Best of Show 2005" at Tokyo Auto Salon, reportedly worth $150,000. Just the custom leather interior reported cost $20,000. The producing company got it for $50,000, and the crew promptly destroyed both the interior and exterior by repainting both (with spray-paint).

-- Honda S2000 was actually considered to use as the primary character vehicles but ultimately given up when research indicated the car had a neutral chassis and an extremely rigid racing frame thus making it almost impossible to drift. RS-R modified a S2000 for drifting and wrecked the car on the first trial run.
(in case you don't know what is RS-R, it is a very recognised name in drifting.)

Drift Car Modifications:

1. Aftermarket Intake System
Increases the amount of air going into a naturally aspirated motor.

2.Clutch and Flywheel Upgrade
Due to the increased use, the clutch and flywheel are upgraded to stronger aftermarket pieces.

3.Limited Slip Differential
Install a limited-slip differential. A 2-way LSD is the preferred choice.

4.Suspension
Make sure your suspension is correct. A stiff set of springs matched with the proper dampers, like a coil-over system, will allow the rear tires to spin a lot easier thn a stock car's suspension. Tower bars, roll bars and rol lcages can improve vehicle response and add safety.

5.Wheels and Tires
Wheels should be lightweight, the rear tires should be cheap, as you'll go through lot of them, but make sure to have good quality front tires that will last.

Sean speeds on the highway to overtake D.K for fun, and gets past a police car on the road side. A policeman took out a speedometer and the speed was 197km/h, the policeman does nothing. Then Sean asked Han why was this happening. Han's reply?
"If you can do better than D.K, they can't catch u, so they don't even try."

Sean walks out of his house and sees his dad hammering on a "picked from road" Ford Mustang, and talks to his dad. Dad mumbles talked for a while and says this sentence, its a japan saying: "The nail that sticks out gets hammered."
quite true totally. Its like whomever creates a mess, its up to him to settle.

Sean and Han were onlooking the Tokyo busy streets from high. Den Han talks about why he lent Sean his Nissan Silvia/180SX to compete with D.K even though he expected his car would be screwed up. Sean said it was alot of money, Han replied, "i have money, its trust and character i need around me". and added, "Friends who choose to be around u, lets u noe who u are. One car in exchange for knowing what a man's made of, that's a price i can live with."

after some more talking,
Han said, "life's simple, make choices and don't look back."
well a very true phrase indeed.

Sean said: "so if u dont drift to win, then what do u drift for?" Han replied, "you really want to know ?" "yeah." "okay let's go".
Han proceeds to drive to a girl's car and drifts 10 rounds in a circle outlining the car and stop. One of the girl took out a pen, scribbles her phone number onto a piece of paper and passes it over. (u can clearly see the tire marks from the previous shots.) crap now how do we do it in Singapore?
