the ideology of the best worlds.

it took me time to understand that in everything, you cant get the best of both worlds. thats if u wan something to be well, u haf to not haf some other things. after selling camera for so long, a simple concept learnt thru is that... u cant get everything in a single camera.. easily put it. one thing to remember is that: in a slim camera, u've got to consider its limitations. its lens can't be too big, battery gotta be thin lithium battery, dun expect the LCD to be too fantastic, dun expect the body to be very protective of the camera internals, and lastly dun expect ur camera to be very very good. reason behind is simple, logically put it. you want something light, yet u wan it to be good. honestly, unless u're easily satisfied, otherwise a slim and thin camera will never bo good. thats the fact. thats the limitations of it, and that reflects that u can never get the best of both worlds.. imagine a camera with big lens, bulky, with respect to that of a DSLR, isnt it very good?. but oftenly people complain about it being bulky, uses double A batteries, but still, since u want a good camera wif good functionalities, then i guess you shouldn't grumble about the fat body at all isnt it. lol... afterall, heavy metal can protect your camera better than thin alloys. which would u prefer?. so remember, dont expect to get the best of both worlds, like wanting a thin camera, thats light, that has high density metal to protect the interiors, that has can go underwater, that can fly in the sky and drop on the ground with no problems, LCD so big and clear that ur grandma with presbyopia can see without spectacles, lenses that can zoom to 200m when its only 10cm thick, flash that can reach to the length ur lenses can zoom to ?!, blablabla... all this simply tell us that in this world, even the highest technology, has its own imitations at all. the same thing applies for everything in the world as well.

Averagely, what a camera can achieve in this logical world, and i mean camera as in a Digital Still Camera (DSC), should be: roughly a 8 megapixels camera (this is already enough if u're developing poster size photographs), 3x Optical Zoom (as a compact camera flash can only reach approx this distance), 5x Digital Zoom (rather sufficient already, as its getting unclear, the megapixels get enlarged), average flash light (approx up to 3meters, any longer ur flash will get bigger and heavier), ISO up to 3200 (for night shot capabilities, any higher will make your camera pointless as ur flash is not enough to cover up for the lost light at night anyways. lots of noise will be seen in ur image also), more or less those are the more normal ones, other extra features can include the Anti-Shake CCD installed in the camera, dependant on whether its Digital Image Stabiliser (DIS) or Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS).

And one very important thing, you only need OIS in your camera if the lenses allow u to go up to more than 6x Optical Zoom, that's when u really nid OIS. anything below 6x Optical Zoom, all you need is just DIS and you're there. OIS is more expensive than DIS, yes its good. But you dun really nid it in ur 3x Optical Zoom camera, dont you think so?... -.- as a matter of fact, don't be conned by salesman telling you their cameras have anti shake and tries to fool you. All they do is, target you in the focus of the camera, turns on the flash light, and moves up and down, click, and the picture is taken out... WOW? so clear? and u're impressed. trust me, take it using the current settings, focus far enough that the flash light can't reach, try moving up and down (yes in the locked focus mode), and click. see what comes out. without the simplest DIS, the picture that comes out will be crap. IF with DIS, the image also comes out to be dark.. must remember lei, in slim thin cameras now, there's still no such thing as shutter speed adjustment technology. therefore you cant control how much light goes into your camera, so the amount of light would be the amount of flash your flashlight can give, and how far the distance is to that of the focus.

the trick to the salesman successful clear image of u in close distance with flash is that: do a lock-on focus to ur object, which does not go further than that of ur flashlight can. then try moving (yes even if ur object moves and u're moving also), and snap. the object in focus will come out clear, only ur background becomes blur. WHY? simple reason being, once u lock-on ur focus, the focal length between u and ur object is locked, therefore with flash to cover back the lost light even if ur object moved, what makes u think that its not possible to get a clear image of the object in focus?.. lol... as a matter of fact, try turning off the flash and do the same. i'll wana say i'm impressed if that camera can take a clear picture then.

anyways, some slim, compact camera now comes packed with ISO 6400, such a high sensitivity value, in a compact camera?. your flash cant even compensate the lighting, therefore you'll need a tripod. wouldn't it be hilarious to be needing to bring a big tripod everywhere u go when u wana take night shots?. especially when ur camera is so puny already... -.-

that's all i can think about, so never think about getting the best of both worlds, its never gonna work. focus on what u're looking for, if you're paying an average price, den be sure to get a average camera. never be fooled, else u might be end up paying for something not even worthed ur money. afterall, most commonly, you're looking at a Digital Still Camera isnt it?, so dont expect too much.

therefore, next time when u think of getting the best of both worlds?... think again.
Loves, derrick out.
